Our Play-Based Learning
At JamaJaz, we embrace a play-based learning approach that supports the natural ways infants and toddlers grow and develop. This method encourages curiosity, creativity, and active engagement, laying a strong foundation for intellectual growth, problem-solving skills, and intrinsic motivation.

Play-based learning is a concept that many early childhood educators adopt as part of their teaching methods and practice. Research has explored the importance of play for a child’s overall development and we know that play is closely associated with the development of fine motor skills and gross motor skills. At JamaJaz, we recognize that play is not just fun—it’s fundamental to learning.
Philosophy
At JamaJaz, our mission is to nurture and support children from infancy through toddlerhood and preschool, ensuring they are fully prepared for pre-K and kindergarten.

We focus on the development of the whole child—intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. Our daily activities, including arts and crafts, story time, and circle time, are thoughtfully designed to promote growth in all these areas, helping each child build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Our Story
As a mother of two wonderful daughters, I understand firsthand the importance of finding trustworthy, loving care for your children. When my daughters were very young, I worked full-time in an office setting and was incredibly fortunate to have had amazing caregivers during those early years. Inspired by that experience, I opened JamaJaz DayCare in my home to offer the same level of care and connection to other families.

My goal is to support working parents by helping them stay closely connected to their little ones, while ensuring their children are engaged in fun, enriching, and developmentally appropriate activities throughout the day.

I feel truly grateful to work alongside the talented and caring staff at JamaJaz. Together—with our shared love for children and my background in business—we are proud to provide high-quality childcare in a nurturing, home-like environment.
Please come visit us with your child. We would love to meet you!

Betty Hui
I am a retired registered nurse, with a Masters in Health Care with a certificate in Advanced Pediatric Life Support. I speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. I am also a mother of three children and a grandmother to three children. When my children were very young, I worked in a hospital full-time. Back then, the concept of balancing work and life did not exist. When my children were sick, it was unheard of to take off from work to care for them. Luckily for me, I had my own mother and trusted nannies to care for my children. I understand the concerns and emotional feelings of whether my child was happy and safe while I was at work, and therefore I am happy to provide "peace of mind" for other parents. I look forward to caring for your child as "Grandma Betty".

Teresita Paez
I was born and raised in the Philippines. I graduated as a Certified Nursing Aide from Riverside Medical Center, School of Nursing, and Midwifery. I speak Tagalong and English. I realized that I loved caring for children in a home family setting and became a nanny. After devoting over 24 years to one family, I married and started my own family. Being a devoted wife, a dedicated and loving mother, and a proud grandmother, I missed caring for young children. I became a nanny again, helping to raise two scholarly and talented boys who attended St. Cecilia and two lovely and smart girls who attended St Brendans. Continuing my love of raising young children, I decided to join the JamaJaz family as "Nanna Teresita".

Raveena Parshan
I was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. In Pakistan, I was a dentist with 3.5 years of clinical experience. My husband and I moved to San Francisco in October, 2022 to pursue career opportunities. I aspire and am working to become a pediatric dentist. Before starting at JamaJaz in November 2022, I raised my nephews and nieces when they were babies and toddlers while their parents worked full time. I enjoy helping very young children learn, play and do fun and creative activities. The best part of my day is developing a loving connection with the children.
